I lerv trap gurlz

Oh. no. he didn't.

It's been awhile, and I apologize for that.  I try my best to post as frequently as possible, since blogs that don't post regularly aren't worth checking in my opinion.  (yes, I realize the hypocrisy)  But what with black ops 2, halo 4, and finals...it's hard to stay focused on a hobby.

TRAP.

It's the genre I've pretty much neglected on here for the simple fact that I thought it's introduction should be epic.  Well, there's no better way than a mix with the best trap bangers out now.  It goes hard, it chills, it electrifies, and it moves.  It's a pretty lengthy mix (2hrs and change), but every track on there is oh-so-yummy.

A special thank you to $$$XXX for two artists I wouldn't have heard of otherwise and to BR for having a birthday at the perfect time. ;)

As always, click play and live happier.

Citizen Cope - Lifeline (Figure Remix)

Figure's the man.  He releases a doozy of a track to help relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.  The track's a monster, but if you can spare a few ducks, send them to one of his selected philanthropies or donate money on your own.  EDM cares.

DOWNLOAD AND DONATE HERE!

Krewella - Alive (Pegboard Nerds Remix)

Everyone's pitching a massive tent for this trio of creamy amazingness (yeah, i'm running out of adjectives :P).  Yasmine, Jahan, and Rain Man have been making panties drop for quite some time now.  If you haven't heard their stuff, then go listen to it all on their soundcloud.  They're monsters in this sea of ordinary people.

I would normally post about their original tracks, but then this blog would turn into pandora. ;)  So, this massive remix by Pegboard Nerds is amazing!!  I don't know much about them, but obviously, they made this.  Be on the lookout.

What I do on the weekends...

It begins with a... feeling.  Standing in line, you review the details of the ticket you printed at home or at work.  You read the lines you’ve read repeatedly every day leading up to this moment, sometimes multiple times per sitting in multiple sittings each day.  The folds of the paper exhibit the fragility of repeatedly handled paper.  Proudly adorned with food stains and water rings, proclaiming for the world that you lived with this ticket on your person.  You ate, slept, and dreamt of this.  You anxiously texted and tweeted every friend that matters in that moment and made it a “family event.”  You posted on Facebook with various obscure lyrics that only aficionados would “like” and “cool kids” would finish.  (The lame ones name the song and criticize how old it is… jk…but really.)  Your entire existence was consumed by the anticipation of tonight. Armed with the brightly beaded, playful bracelets that you created with your friends whilst listening to this new mixtape or that Pandora station, you look at the people in the long, stagnant “will call” line and muse to yourself, “noobs.”
While you stand there waiting, you pass the time discussing what tracks you hope to hear, what things your friend had to go back and get from the car, and which outfit is most flattering and unflattering of your fellow “line prisoners.”  You pray that you fight off the feelings of your “pregame” and that you can get through the door subtly and without suspicion, double-checking your stash spot to make sure you really can’t feel what it hides.
At long last, it’s your turn.  You relinquish your grip on the parchment that symbolized everything you are about to experience.  Using your real or fake identification, you confirm to The Man that you rage but can do so responsibly.  Oh, that feeling.  The goose prickles covering your forearms and the back of your neck are invasive, yet comforting.  The responsible adults of the evening award you with another bracelet of paper/plastic or humiliate you with large black marks to signify your exclusion from the liquids you both know you already consume regularly.  (But who cares?  It washes off with soap anyways.)
Then, you wait.  You want to stay with the group, so you wait on the coat depositor and the will-call sadist.  You, as a group, go to the bathroom.  Analyzing your appearance, voiding any baggage, and ensuring an on-point, group entrance.  (I mean, you shopped online for hours, looking for that bright neon furry or bandana.  It must be properly worn.)  After all, you’re family.  And away you go.
The room is crowded; you can feel the heat.  The aura of moving, gyrating bodies waiting with bated breath for the show to begin is palpable, but you live for this.

The opening music isn’t simply sound, but a flood of sensation encompassing your entire being.  It tingles across your epithelium and tickles your obsession for bass.  Akin to the most ridiculous foreplay, you know the best part is still yet to come.

You scour for minutes to find the “sweet spot” for group dancing, jumping, standing, and talking.  Just close enough to feel the bass, but with room to breathe without the oppressive glares of security.
You can’t believe it’s here.  Your heart flutters like a hummingbird’s wings in mid-flight.
The lights dim down.
The crowded yells out in excitement.  AHHHHHHH!!!!!
Then, the bass hits hard, and in unison, the entire room is moving.  If the “will call” line can hear this, you know they’re shaking it, too.  In that moment, you are all one.  Everything important to you is in that room or on that stage.  In THAT moment, you are beyond reality.  Time is frozen.
Then, you blink.
The lights give you the sense of security that this is, in fact, real.
You breathe to immerse yourself in the moment.
Then, you blink.
You look at the smiles all around you, at the love pouring out of each living soul.  You concentrate to absorb this feeling to make the seemingly, everlasting purgatory until the next show more bearable.
Then, you blink.
You dance, you laugh.  You rage at the drops.
Then, you look, and it’s over. :(

EDIT: NOW, here's something delicious for you to enjoy.

Whiiite & Prima Volta ft. Stazz - Broken

In a culture driven by the internet, new music is always available.  Therefore, in order to really make a name for yourself, the quality, rather than the quantity, of the music producers release to the public is more significant in creating a lasting impression on the listening public, i.e. all of us bass heads.  If your remix is utterly jaw-dropping, you're on the radar with the bloggers and EDM aficionados salivating for your next release (even if it's only to ensure you aren't a one-hit wunderkind).

Well, if you've heard his A-MAZE-BALLS remix of Knife Party's Fire Hive, then you're already aware of Whiiite.  He's been releasing remixes that have been in my heavy rotation for some time now.  Hailing from Hollywood, CA, DJ Chris White aka Whiiite has been making waves.  By incorporating the scratchy, filthy sub bass tones into a groove beat, his productions are absolute bangers.  Check out his soundcloud here.  His bio is interesting and demonstrates his creative/imaginative side.  He's just released a Halloween EP for free, and the track we're featuring today is from his first EP "Whiiite Begins EP" out now on Beatport.   If you like filthy bass, do not sleep on this guy.  Go grab your copy or stream through soundcloud today.  Click Play.  Thank me later.

Also, my favorite of his tracks from awhile back...someone told me, "this remix isn't that great." And then, they heard it drop. ;P The one below is pure nektar.

Suicide Silence - You Only Live Once (Hulk Remix)

Dubstep has many moods and faces.  It varies from the relaxing melodies of chillstep to the groove and rock of trapstep.  Then, there's FILTHY.  The filthy tracks are the ones that make you go "ughhhh!!!" and crack a big smile.  These special tracks are perfect for a head-banging sesh on the road or for that workout obstacle that you can't pass without an extra push.  This track, my friends, is the track that will turn your Monday into a Friday in less than a minute.

If you are familiar with dubstep, you've probably heard of HULK.  Out of Chi-Town and Gotham, these two have an anthology of tracks that are worth exploring.  Each one is filthier than the next. Check out their soundcloud.  This track in particular is an absolute MONSTER.  Combining the heavy hardcore style of SUICIDE SILENCE and adding in their signature dirty wobble bass, HULK's remix of YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE is a must-add in all iTunes playlist formats.  It starts heavy and just...keeps...on...going.  Hide your wife and your kids.  Your ears are about to get raped.  You've been warned.  ;P

Current Obsession: Zeds Dead

Hello, my bass-loving butterflies!!  I want to take a moment and welcome our international viewers (you may be bots, but you may be awesome dub heads.  We welcome both...for now. :D)  As you guys know, I was one of the lucky thousands that went to Counterpoint last month, and with all the wonderful lasting memories and exciting after-effects on my life and musical palette, I came away from the experience with a newly rediscovered love for some of my favorite djs.  Namely, in this instance, I'm referring to ZEDS DEAD.

Hailing from north of the border (Toronto, CA), this musically-brilliant duo has been destroying venues and eardrums for years.  Starting their dance floor productions in 2009, they've released monster upon monster contributing their genre-breaking, hip-hop-influenced style to the anthology of room shakers.  To quote a friend of mine, "Zeds Dead makes the filthy really clean.  It's so crisp you can't help but move part of your body. -CPC"

Catch them live just once, and I promise you'll recognize what has made over 300K people salivate.  Check out their "The Living Dead EP" collaboration with Omar Linx.  Tracks below are some personal favorites.  Click Play. Enjoy.

Bass Enthusiasts: $$$XXX has a radio show

Have you guys heard?  Homeboy's got a new radio show.  No, not me, but Ross a.k.a. $$$XXX a.k.a. Reptar a.k.a. Magic is straight murdering the college radio scene right now.  He did a few preview mixes on SCAD Atlanta Radio, and he now has a two-hour bass-heavy radio show on Saturdays from 10PM to 12AM (EST).  You should check him out in iTunes radio or with the TuneIn app on iOS devices (search SCAD ATLANTA RADIO).  His most recent broadcast is downloadable below.  Spread the word, this kid has taste.  He doesn't have many tracks, but his faves are worth perusing.  Soundcloud

MAGIC's School Bus Ep. 001

Zooly - You Should Know

Taking Dragonette's vocal sample from her HUGE track "Hello" with Martin Solveig, Zooly absolutely destroys this track.  It's not just a remix or a genre-specific track (Well, I guess if you had to label it, it'd be trap).  It's a fantastic production. Give it a listen and tell me it's not dirty.

8Tracks - Killin It

Oh, my people.  The time between our visits is much to be desired.  Well, here's an update for you.  There's so many tracks dropping recently that I'm going to do a rapid succession of posts today, so be ready.  Right off the bat though, here's a mix I made that captures my listening history for the past couple days.  Enjoy.

Skism - LIVE at Lowlands 2012

Ever heard a fire mix that just keeps going?  From start to finish, a good mix is hard to find, and especially bad ones are torture.  This mix is nectar.  SKISM from the UK just murdered this.  Click Play, Go Hard.

Why I support EDM's growing mainstream-yness and PLURR

Does anyone think the question of EDM's popularity in the mainstream is becoming increasingly hypocritical?  The major consensus is that EDM is trying their hardest to separate themselves from major pop artists, such as Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Justin Bieber, who are seen as the more annoying pop artists but have been major supporters of the movement.  Granted, the increasing support could be due to the commercial side of the music industry in that popularity is relevance and relevance is revenue, but I'm starting to wonder if these artists might have a legitimate interest in the electronic scene.

Please hold all questions until the end.  Thank you.  (oh, also, if you don't care about this discussion, music is at the end of the post.  Just some bass for your day.  <3)

If you take into account the general consensus that surrounds the electronic music scene, most people can agree that it's the future of music.  Even non-fans believe that with technology's major role in society's everyday life that music is never going to be the same again.  Well, in truth, it hasn't been for quite some time.  Technology starting with the keytar and keyboard's popularity in the 70's and 80's was an earlier incorporation of technology into the music production scene.  Electronics have been used to produce rap beats for decades now, and everything is mixed and leveled correctly through a soundboard.  This has been going on for years, but I digress.  Other antagonists of EDM argue for the preservation of real instruments, as they will die out as the popularity for learning such unique skills would fade away.  I tend to disagree.  Real instruments will always have relevance, since classical music's essence and beauty is not lost on the general public.  (Besides, won't their always be asian parents?  Yeah...covered.)  Also, with the growing popularity of electronic music, the artistic creativity of a soloist or classical artist will also experience an increase in demand in the coming years.  (Read: Lindsay Stirling's recent melding.)

If electronic music is the future, then most artists are going to need to convert or adapt to the changing times.  Regrettably, no orchestra can produce the same clear-cut beats as that of a producer in front of a computer.  It just can't be done.  So, if you are any popular artist and you decide you want to make a banging track, wouldn't you want to make a track with elements of what you love right now?  Who would you go to for a beat or for a collaboration?  The best in the game.  If you happen to be a fan of their work, then why not the better?  (side note: it would suck if my favorite producer didn't want to work with me.  #bummer )  But in most cases, producers are happy to work with pop artists.  (See: DJ Chuckie's 100 Bottles for Chris Brown).  As the Usher-Diplo massively popular track shows us, electronic music and pop music are pretty much fused at this point.

Understandably, purists of the EDM scene absolutely hate this.  They don't want their "scene" to be destroyed by the utter nastiness that is the general public.  From radio overplays to sampling in commercials and movies, the general public destroys really good things (Please see Tupac Shakur, Ice Cube, and Will Smith's rap career).  However, I think they really must look at themselves to see what caused this apparent "ruin."  (This is directed to me as well as all lovers of EDM.) You live in the moment.  You accept everyone for what they are because it's all about peace, love, unity, respect, and responsibility.  Everyone's equal.  Everyone is loved.  We're all there to have a good time, so we can respect one another for that simple fact.  Why wouldn't the world want to jump on this bandwagon?  It's like a productive/clean-shaven hippie renaissance.  I'm sorry...but what?!  Yeah, it is.  The whole world is learning this philosophy and running with it.  Be proud of that.  With electronic music's growing popularity, we're also supporting a lifestyle predicated on love and happiness.  Yeah, swag up.  We're making the world a better place.  So, why is everyone hating on Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber for being fans?

Aren't they people too?  The greatest thing about the EDM scene is you can leave whatever you do and whoever you are at home for a few hours or a few days, and you can simply be a fan of good music and good times.  Why can't popular artists do that too?  Better yet, why can't they contribute and bring their talent?  Are you gonna tell Kobe that he can't play on your rec team because you don't like how mainstream he is?  Kobe, you can play on my team anytime.  I think popular artists could hurt the scene, but they'd bring so much talent to the pool. Yes, I get the argument that they're already popular and taking spots from unknowns that work in the underground.  But isn't their enough room for everyone?  I think certain genres like House and electro will go mainstream as they are the most digestible, but dubstep and trance?  They're going to stay relatively under.  I mean, I'd love a dubstep track with Ke$ha on it.  (To this day, best live show I've ever seen.  So much fxcking glitter and confetti.)  Nevertheless, I'd actually be some pop artists' fan if their songs had a little more bass and wobble in them.  No one can deny their talent.  We can all agree that they're dumb people (except I think Bieber is really an Ewok that shaved most of his body. :P) I just don't understand how producers that tweet "#PLURR" and wear kandi can say they hate anyone.  I could understand the hate if Dick Cheney was like "yo, let's collab!", but just because the general public has Bieber Fever or are a bunch of Lil Gaga Monsters and the music industry makes millions off that, you shouldn't hate.  You can decline, but you shouldn't hate.  That's missing the point, but I think as more and more people get exposed to and fall in love with EDM, more and more talented singers will be coming to EDM.  Not a thing anyone can do about it.  Love them.  Ignore them.  Move on.  Ultimately, I'd probably like more of them.  At the very least, I'll give them a chance to disappoint me.

Yes, you can say that I'm just falling into the trap set before us, but really, is it such a bad thing?  I rarely listen to the radio because I always listen to songs on my phone, playlists through different apps, or internet radio.  One day, I didn't have my phone and had to drive two hours.  The radio was absolutely awful except for the few tracks here and there that I could digest.  It's hard to flip back to the 90's when you're listening to the future all the time, but popular music has come a long way from Smashmouth and Nsync.  So, I would love for the producers I like to become immensely popular.  I'd love for them to collab with the most talented people because that's when you truly get the greatest creations.  Is it Bieber or Gaga? Who cares?  But what's the harm in trying?

I understand that they're taking the track and renaming it and recategorizing it.  Calling it their own.  But so what?  Was Hit-Boy's N***** in Paris called that when he sold it to Jay and Ye?  Nope. (actually, I don't know, but most of you are probably like "Who the f is HIT-BOY???" anyways.)  The more that producers fight this, the worse it will be for them.  Other opportunists will take advantage and the David Guetta's of the world will prosper.  He's talented, but the argument could be made that he's a sell-out.  I think he wanted to work with big names and get paid.  I think that kind of makes his legitimacy argument equally relevant.  So, just leave the hate at home, ladies.

Public rants make you look classless.  I don't want the news I read to be about your comments but about your work or the venue you shut down.  When I listen to the radio, I would love to hear your tracks.  Why not?  You're getting massive exposure.  Kiss your Honda goodbye, and go pick up your Bentley.  I'm sorry...problems?  You're talented, you deserve it.  Yes, I get that you're a complicated artist.  Yes, I know you want credibility.  But are you going to honestly tell me that if Jay-Z wants a collab, you aren't jumping on that?  I'll tell you this, he doesn't work with classless people.  I'm just sayin.  But back to the radio and the mainstream...

I mean, I rarely listen to the radio, so the overplays won't get me.  In truth, most of you probably don't listen to the radio either.  Let's be real here.  So, for the few times that I do listen to the radio, I'd love for it to be better music, and the better musical taste the general public has, the better popular radio will be.  Increased exposure can only mean a higher standard but more money-grubbing (but that was guaranteed anyways once women starting dressing in underwear for shows...they're doing what??? Yeah, why wouldn't the world be on board again?). So, go ahead, ruin my scene, I'm not even listening.  If you jack up the prices for tickets, I'll just go to smaller shows.  I know at least two things are certain.  I'm still gonna love, and I'm still gonna dance.  Gimme a beat!

Down below, some dirty little tracks...and as always, click play.  die happy. ;P

Counterpoint 2012

For those of you that didn't know, this past weekend was Counterpoint 2012.  The first annual music festival in Atlanta, GA.  It was one of the greatest experiences of my life, and videos and photos will be coming shortly (from my personal camera and also from other people's posts on the web).  Also, I'll be posting my favorite dropped tracks by each DJ and (God-willing) if someone posts the complete sets, then I'll post those as well.

Initial thoughts:

Masks are overrated and extremely hot.
Bassnectar was sick.
The crowd could have used some more love.
skrillex was the greatest set of the weekend.
Pretty Lights had fireworks.
Only Zedd dropped Gangnam Style.
Water is worth more than drugs.
I met beautiful girls.
Only one to write home about.
Zeds Dead, Excision, and Feed Me went extremely hard.
12th Planet was everything I hoped he would be.
HxV...no words.
Adventure Club is baby making dubstep (fuckstep).

Photos and vids to come.  Stay tuned.

EDIT: Sorry guys, but I'm gonna have to eat my words on this one.  It would literally take a few days to collect that stuff together and make three massive posts.  I want to say that I'll get to it soon, but let's be honest, it'll happen when it happens.   Sorry for the false anticipation, but look for a few new tracks today and the following.  -DP

Xilent the Culprate - 3 tracks of goodness

This is a combo post.  It's the weekend, and ya'll deserve it.  Boom.  First up, XILENT's remix of Excision and Savvy's Sleepless is crazy good.  Female vocals and heavy drops make this one an instant add for your weekend playlist.  Next up is a track I've been kind of sleeping on.  It got lost in the ridiculousness that is my iTunes library.  oops.

Well, here's a producer out of the UK, CULPRATE.  And what does one say about a track that makes me make a filthy face (squinted eyes, big smile, tongue kinda out, nodding head) every time I hear it.  See if you don't make a similar face.  <3

Skullee - He's a Pirate

I should be writing a lab report.  It's due in three hours, and I haven't started.  Haha, years later, still a pro procrastinator.  But to be fair, I just fixed my internet, caught up on music, fixed my keyboard and speakers, and made breakfast.  Yeah, it's been one of those mornings.

Anyways, the only thing I want to say about the above photo - look at those bubbles! I wanna go to a foam party or a paint rave.  Either would be fine, so long as they played good music.

Random side note: I love a smart girl that smiles.  Yes, talk to me about regioselectivity in that mousey voice of yours.  <3

Well, on to music, I only got the one track for you today, since that's really all the time I got (see aforementioned lab report deadline).  As I'm sure all of you have at some point seen one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.  Well, this new producer SKULLEE out of NORWAY just destroyed the movie's theme.  The drop is average, but it's got an epic feel to it.  Also, major points for just being a brilliant remix.  There's a bonus bootleg from Skullee, as well (yeah, yeah, I lied about it being only one track. :P)

New Filth Playlist

Something for your day.

Knife Party - Internet Friends (Revolvr Bootleg)

Yeah, yeah, yeah...Knife Party's Internet Friends is like that hook-up buddy that went psycho on yo ass.  Like it was really good and fun for awhile until she started showing up everywhere uninvited and even tried to get you to hold her purse.  Nuh-uh, bxtch.  Not today.

I normally don't like posting remixes that have been played out (read: Avicii's Levels, Zedd's Spectrum, Carly Rae's Call Me Maybe) and prefer to highlight rare remixes and original works, but this is an exception.  Like, when Ni***s in Paris drops, you're tired of the beat, but when it's reworked and the drops get filthier? yeah, that's what this site's all about.

The only reason I'm posting this track is because it's filthy, plain and simple.  You listen, and instantly, you know it's not going to be the same old track, and even though REVOLVR uses some of the original drops, they're actually a welcome retelling...almost like years passed and that hook-up buddy got way hotter, saner, and started smoking pot.  Yeah, this track...it's like that.  Click play, die happy. Enjoy. ;P

DJ Fresh and Flux Pavilion - Gold Dust (Faeroh Remix)

1) Her eyes.  stunning.  Respirator...win.

2) It's hard to find a good remix of Flux Pavilion's tracks, but they've become so iconic, you can't help but wonder that something good had to be coming.  So check out this wonderful remix by Faeroh of Flux's GOLD DUST.  It's oh so yummy-yummy.

18 days to CP - Tasty Treats

Well, it's been a week.  Women...  At any show, they wear less clothing than they normally do, but cover up their entire bodies in kandi. Makes for some pretty sweaty kandi. #justsayin  But the point of this photo is the fuzzy earmuffs.  Yes. I'm so pro fuzzy you might as well call me wuzzy.

Now, for the music...since Counterpoint is only 18 days away...yeah, I know. Here's a great track from local talent.

First up, Mayhem.  ATL-based producer is absolutely filthy live.  Saw him in Birmingham, and they tore the roof off.  He's currently signed to Subhuman ATL.  His current single out now is "Brick Squad Anthem."  Click Play. Die Happy.

Here's a pretty thumpy (is that a word?) track. Definitely more Big Room than House, so it's definitely got a bit o' that good tribal/jungle feel.  Of which, I am a strong supporter.  This is Clockwork's Titan (MAD DECENT).

And here's a shortened version of my favorite producer right now, CLARK KENT, who brought you that sick nasty birdy - shelter remix and also destroyed The Wanted's Glad You Came.  This one is for the beatport remix competition that Zed's Dead is hosting for a track off their newest EP called COWBOY.  If you haven't heard the original, I posted it first.  Listen, and then see what SuperPro did with it.

If you like Clark Kent's remix, go to beatport and vote for him here.

RMFT: Party Starters

If I took a girl's pants off and saw her wearing these, I'd be speechless.  I mean, aside from the neon color and the lace, she obviously gets it.  And forget about it, if she's wearing these at a show.  I'd be on her like white on rice (yes, asians can use that joke, too. 8D).  In the words of my girl B, I definitely like it, so Imma put a ring on it.

Anyways, in light of the excitement that is college football, I decided to give you guys a few tracks for your Saturday festivities.  (If you need more music, check out my other posts, of course.)  These three tracks will turn your cookout into a dance party, or at least the discussion of whether there needs to be an outing to a club in the post-game.  Enjoy.  ;P

And here's a bonus. This original song was a youtube sensation in my college days...so to hear a dubstep remix of it is like finding your favorite pair of flipflops from way back and realizing you can still rock them (ignoring the smell), but they still make you feel insanely disgusting just putting them back on your clean feet. This is like that but better. (You don't actually smell a penis when listening to this track.)

Longest post to date.

Rack 'em!

First things first, I want to apologize for the delay in the best bass-to-your-face.  With the classes I'm taking, the four hours a day I have to drive, and my ever-increasing narcissistic tendencies, you, my readers, have become the victims.  For which, I am truly sorry.

As a reward for your awesomentality (yeah, i made it up) and patience, I'm bringing you a top five (in no particular order) list of my favorite tracks this week.  Unfortunately, until my schedule settles down, this will be the norm for the foreseeable future (READ: until after Counterpoint and my NYC trip :P)

In the meantime, I'm always uploading tracks, videos, and EDM news to my social media, so if you aren't following me on either, go do it now on my twitter and my facebook.

First up, we got OMG & SHOCKWAVE on a filthy delicious collab.  I mean, they just twerk.  It's almost too sweet to stomach, but don't trust me on this.  Go snag a listen yourself.

Now, I get a lot of smack for having more remixes of Rihanna, Adele, and Carly Rae than is healthy, but I apologize for nothing!  Girl fire is party music at it's purest form.  Without an appreciation for it, you neglect the reason we rage - to boogie with one another (duh!).  Well, here's a moombah remix of Flo Rida's Whistle.  MAADMAN is a relatively new producer than came into my realm of awareness last week.  The tracks I was able to get my hands on are pretty good, so make sure to keep a look out for this cat.

So, now, we come to the filthies. ;P  This next track is from MIMOSA.  I mean, if you've ever seen this guy live, your legs kinda get a twinge from the last time you danced for his entire set.  It's a shared, sweet feeling.  With that being said, his remix of JMSN's "Girl (I Used To Know)" is just...yum.  No other words.  Tell me it isn't good, and I'll slap your ass and call you a Republican (they're the only ones that hate good music and happiness).

This next track is an electro house track from TheFatRat.  His remix of Dev's Turn My World On is funky and a sure-fire heater.  I dare you to listen to it and not smile.  Fah reelz, I. DARE. YOU.

Finally, here's a monster from one of my fave filth producers TERRAVITA.  I mean, they've been making waves for awhile, and their live performance was absolutely stellar.  As an opener for Flux Pavilion, you can't really get more street cred than that.  Anyways, if you are familiar with electronica, then you know all about Aphex Twin.  If not, get that background, son!

AND FINALLY!!! Here's some bonus tracks for you.  Why, you ask?  Um, cause this chick I know is awesome, and I'm doing a dedication. deal.  Also, as my boy's girl, she gets special treatment status, by default.  That's just the way I do.  Listen to these and be jealous. ;P

Krewella - One Minute

Dubstep.
Sex.
Dubstep.
Dubsex.

For some time now, dubstep (or really all of EDM) and sex have gone hand-in-hand.  With the scantily clad women to the drugs to the sensation of deep bass rippling across your arms and chest, music fuels our libido...our prowess...our need to fuck.

Many artists have already established the pantystep sub-genre, but not all their tracks evoke the angst and ferocity that is real passion, the passion of the moment in which there are not two but one. Well, listen up shawtys and swag-stealers, allow me to introduce you to a hauntingly beautiful track with enough filth that at any moment...if you aren't careful...will out of nowhere....turn....you....on.

Then again, you might like heavier bass and a funkier beat.  Well, if that's the case, let's meet up. ;)

For everyone else...you've been warned.

This song's been out a minute, buuuuuttttt   i D G a F.  KREWELLA has been making waves for awhile now, and I think a lot of their tracks are dope (you should check out their SC here). One Minute is off their PLAY HARD EP.  Go snag it right now.  This track...sexy female vocals...grimey bass...a catchy hook?  yeah, this track doesn't sound awesome.  Remember, you've been warned. enjoy. ;P

8tracks - yum

It's been some time since I gave you guys new music, but I didn't have time to sift through all my new music yet.  soooooo...to pass the expanse between now and some future time that delivers good to you, here's a playlist I uploaded to 8tracks.  DL that app to your iPhones now, or just play it below.

It's a filthy bass mix - rap remixes, dubstep, trap, electro, and bass.  Yup, a yummy ear candy playlist.  Enjoy...;P

DJ Chuckie - Live at UMF Korea (2012)

There's very few sets that I feel are worthy of posting on this blog because who has an hour to sit listening to one single track that you are supposed to experience in one sitting whilst taking that little booty and shaking...yeah, rage.  Well, the title itself gave me pause.  I mean, Ultra in KOREA??? yeah, I didn't really expect it, but CHUCKIE (from Amsterdam) throws down.  Give this set five minutes of your time.  I swear, the only reason you'll get up is to dance.  Promise.

Well, if you watched the NBA playoffs, any sporting event that requires jumping, or just listened to EDM in the past 6 months, I'm sure you've heard CHUCKIE's "Who is Ready to Jump" original and remixed.  Well, little did you know, CHUCKIE has done some production work for Chris Brown and Cyhi da Prince, entitled "100 Bottles."  (I've posted it as a bonus. yw)  But clearly, there is absolutely no disputing this: CHUCKIE is one of the greatest dance DJ/producers in the game.

So, without further ado, I give you the Dirty Dutch founder's UMF SOUTH KOREA set.  Get ready to shake your tailfeather.  ;P

Spag Heddy - Til You Drop

Oh, man, this girl...All I know is damn.

It's a great day when you find something filthy, and it's an even better day (for bloggers) when you find the perfect track for the picture you just found. I mean...yeah. awesome. Anyways, this little ditty (please ignore the cover art for the track) is from SPAG HEDDY out of the Netherlands. All I know is that I've listened to a few of his tracks, and I'm impressed. I'll let you all make your own assessment. The way he lays down tracks are more of the throw down in moderation, which I support to a degree. I love the tracks that leave everything on the table, but this one is almost better. By artfully mixing in his appropriate wobbles, this DJ creates a banger. Enjoy the track.

By the way, did you see that girl's booty? "With an ass like that, who cares about her face?" Look out for a delicious KILL PARIS track later this week. In the meantime, speakers up, and RAYG.

Trip Lee - Robot (Jiclo Drumstep Remix)

This is a delicious hood-step track for your weekend. There's something to be said for using a Waka Flocka sample as a sound. A lot of DJ's are simply bringing in verses and leaving much to be desired in their drops. This track from JICLO is so not that. It's got a killer drop, and I think the majority of you will recognize this kid's talent.

Check out this MF: POPESKA

Pacifiers are brilliant.  Aside from coming in all sorts of crazy colors with some having LED's built-in, it provides a barrier between bliss and withdrawal headaches from grinding your teeth and gnawing on the insides of your mouth.  Kandi Kidz really got it on this one.  You can also dip them in whatever gel or powder you want, and boom goes your dynamite.  yup.  Also, they create a great puckering shape to your mouth without having to walk around with ducklips all the time.  Go grab some in those crazy blacklight-friendly colors, but don't forget to be smart like the girl in the photo and make it a necklace.  You don't want to reuse if you ever drop it on a rage floor.

The track for this post is coming to us from 19-year old producer POPESKA out of Atlanta.  I've been a fan of his for quite some time now, but in the past couple weeks, every track he's dropped has been absolute nectar.  So, I'm going to give you two of his most recent bangers, You'll Never Know and Cowbell Boogie.  If you like these tracks, you'll enjoy a bunch of others on his Soundcloud, and if you've gotten a mixtape from me in the past months, you'll definitely recognize a few choice nuggets.  Definitely don't sleep on this guy.  He's quite talented.  Enjoy.  ;P

Driicky Graham and Knife Party Ft. Al3xtaylor - Snapbacks and Centipedes (5 & a Dime Bootleg)

You know when you wake up in the middle of the night and have a crick in your neck that you can't get over to fall back asleep?  Yeah, that's my situation right now.  Regardless, check out the hot girl above.  Damn, right?  I like the clear plastic frames she's wearing and the pants that she isn't.  Now every rave outfit should be a good mix of "I look good naked" and "I'm your dream girl." Yeah, that girl on that couch in those glasses...yep.  #winner

On to the music:

My friend first showed me Driicky Graham's "Snapbacks and Tattoos" a month ago, and we have collectively been hunting a remix of that track ever since.  This isn't a straight remix, but it's filthy, all the same.  DJ/Mashup artist 5 & A DIME, out of Philly, PA, has been getting filthier with every release.  His last track "Change" mixing DILLON FRANCIS and DIPLO was an absolute heater that got me thru the last two weeks.  And here he comes again.  Snapbacks already has a wonderful beat, but mixing in KNIFE PARTY's Centipede?? yup.  Turn up the volume just a lil bit (don't blow out your speakers) and get ready.  This one is only "kinda" filthy. ;P

Travis Porter - Ayy Ladies (Sam F Remix)

For your weekend, I present to you an absolute banger.  I mean, I just threw this track on, and the party just went hype.  So had to steal my girl's laptop to be sure to share this fire immediately. Enjoy.

So, from up and coming dubstep/electro producer out of Berkeley, CA, SAM F has an unprecedented talent in dropping some of the heavy bass without apologizing for it.  #swag  So, give this cat some love on his Facebook and soundcloud.  This is his remix of Travis Porter's Ayy Ladies.  And oh. my. god. Turn up your speakers and get ready to leave your dignity on the dancefloor because you are about to rage.  ;P

KDREW - Citadream (Mashup)

This one's bass-HEAVY.  Although it's a mashup, KDREW kills the rise on this by using vocal samples from Aerosmith's DREAM ON.  I'm a big fan of the classic song, mainly as a testament to Steven Tyler's vocal abilities.  However, KDREW just produces a banger by adding in the drop from his own track, CITADEL.  Check out the original track on his soundcloud.  ENJOY. :{o  <---handlebars. haha

And the rave attire of the day is: FISHNET STOCKINGS!!!

Yeah, pretty typical, but aside from the normal net pattern, this eye-puller is awesome with the "floral?" patterns.  Definitely would be awesome to look upon at shows.

Major Lazer - Original Don ft. Partysquad (Helicopter Showdown Remix)

Well, girl-brah's and brah's, I have a deep-set confession to make to all of you.  I have been holding out on you all like a grade-school teacher hiding a pinata.  Yeah, kinda epic imagery, right?  Truth be told, for years, I've given people my choice nuggets, and they abused the absolute sh*# out of them.  So, I couldn't even hang out with them cause they overplayed dirty tracks like Ryan Seacrest does every Sunday afternoon.  Regardless, I've come to realize that the bar should always be higher when it comes to my delivery.  Therefore, from here on out, you'll only get the absolute money tracks.  Updates may become more sporadic, but I swear to the good lord of bass that the wait will be absolutely worth it.

So without further ado, I give to you an absolute monster.

In the years that I have been scouring the internets for filth, you pray that one in a hundred tracks sound like this one.  Well, I'm here to say this right here (see below) is absolutely one of a kind.  Just the filthiest, grimiest track I've heard in a while.  I hope your ears can handle it.

Helicopter Showdown.  Learn that name.  He recently did some shows in P-cola, Mobile, Birmingham, and one of the college towns in Alabama (auburn or t-town, not sure which) with my boy Carlos and Dub Squared events.  Carlos has a knack for finding the best talent, and Helicopter Showdown does not disappoint.

Check out the track below and tell me that he doesn't set the bar for the future of dubstep.  Remixing MAJOR LAZER's ORIGINAL DON, zomg, so filthy.  If this track doesn't do it for you, go back into the woods, talk to your spirit animal, and figure out if dubstep is really for you because baby, this song is absolutely sick.

OH! and did i mention, it's absolutely free? $$$

Enjoy. ;P

The Wanted - Chasing the Sun (Hardwell Remix)

Today, I wanted to start off with the picture first because, let's be honest here, it's epic.  I swear to the heavens that I will remain his fan for life.  The Atypical Rave Attire for today is: The 90's graphic tee of some wild animal.  Everyone's aware of the sweet yellow dog tee that Mr. Galifianakis rocks in the Hangover Part 2.

I think everyone loves sweet animals and on a t-shirt at a show is a sweet place for it.  Just be prepared for the sweat marks on your lighter colors.  Black's a safe bet.

ON TO THE MUSIC....

Today's track is HARDWELL's remix of The Wanted's Chasing the Sun.  This is a solid house track with just a tinge of that bass-y goodness.  Have a listen.  I'm pretty sure everyone's heard of Hardwell, and if not, check out his remixes of Porter Robinson tracks on his soundcloud.  Turn up your speakers, and as always, enjoy. ;P

Wolfgang Gartner - Redline (Dotcom Remix)

This is a good week's starter track. DOTCOM has primarily been a mashup dj in my mind, but every track of his I have heard (maybe 4-5), they've been prime. This is a pretty sweet remix. I have no idea where he's from, but the only thing that you should care about is: he's got talent.

Enjoy. ;P

Time for hot girl picture time...haha, oh I mean "Atypical Rave Outfit." So this one is: the Cardigan!!!

Now, I know that you shouldn't be looking at anything in cotton, wool, rayon, polyester, or anything that insulates any type of body heat.  I'm thinking this should be a spandex garment that wicks away sweat for practicality.  REGARDLESS, I love the school girl motif here, which switches it up more from the bras and tutus out there (I love bras and tutus).

This one's TITLE is too long.

This one is in that weird genre-mixing grey area where the addition of grimey sub-bass simply adds to the funky-ness of the beat. Boom, boom.

This Calvin Harris, R3hab, and Example track got remixed in a major way. HENRY FONG from Orlando, FL is an asian with dreads. Need I say more? He's definitely an up and comer that you should not sleep on. Enjoy the track. (My body hurts.)

Kill Paris - I Do Love You

FIRST OFF, broke 100 views yesterday, you guys are awesome. Welcome to the site. Spread the word. Love you.

Kill Paris has been destroying these tracks of late. Now, I've gotten into some pretty bass heavy stuff lately (read: freakstep), but with his funky style that reads more like the nostalgia of a lost, better time, I've been saved from wobble-headedness. Hallelujah! Amen.

Kill Paris, AKA Corey Baker, hails from the sweet City of Angels. In much the same vein, he offers tutorials on production and offers all his tracks for free. The only declarative statement on his Soundcloud page is "sharing is caring." You should all support a selfless artist that's in it for the movement by bettering aspiring DJ's (in prevention of the Paris Hilton-types spinning any type of venue). This track, I DO LOVE YOU, self-categorized as "panty-soak and drop step," is precisely that. Go snag a listen, drop it onto your mobile devices, and put it on the "boom-boom room" playlist. Warning: don't listen to this unless you intend on "using it." Party on.

HOORAY!!! It's time for my new segment: ATYPICAL SHOW GARMENT OF THE DAY. Wordy? I know, but it's an excuse for me to put photos of women in a constructive, yet aesthetic manner. I think the plaid in this (I guess) bathing suit below is an excellent choice. It's thought-provoking with a hint of the school girl/swim bunny motif, but the boldness of the print really sets it apart for the typical solid colors that you see at shows. I'd couple this with some kind of skirt or fishnet or fluffies. (For future ref., I won't go into the why ever again, but it was already typed so I just left it. Yay, laziness.) Chick's hot, too. ;P

Don't let what happened to rap happen to EDM

EVERYONE. READ THIS NOW!

The Great EDM war has begun

12th Planet + Flinch - The End is Near Pt. 1

What a great day following a great night! I hope everyone raged hard for the freedoms that make this country great. I can say "titty sprinkles" and check it, I'm not in prison.

Ballin.

Here's a little nugget for you after the holiday. 12th Planet has some crazy funky skill for those of you that have seen the Electric Daisy Carnival Experience know what I mean (if you don't, go to netflix and watch it right now. Also, Flinch has been doing phenomenal work in the bass theory department. All in all, a solid track to get you thru to the weekend.

Bare - Fahrenheit (Original Mix)

I was driving down the road when this little gem came on. I couldn't help but start bobbing my head. Be forewarned...DO NOT TRY TO MOVE ANYTHING OTHER THAN YOUR BODY when playing this track.
This is a lesson in sub bass. One of the best this year thus far. So filthy, I may die. Enjoy. ;P

Joman - Daymanstep

If you have seen FX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, you will LOVE this track. GUARANTEED.

Joman out of Denver takes the infamous Dayman/Nightman musical and adds just the right amount of grime and pep. I mean, gross. Just GNASTY - that's right, nasty with a silent G...for gangsta. WHAT?!

FAIR WARNING: This is heavy bass.

A$AP Rocky ft. Lana Del Ray - Ridin

THIS IS NOT EDM, but everyone needs good music in all genres. When this started playing on my phone and I really listened to it, A$AP Rocky murdered this track. Now, everybody knows about this kid's rising star, but he's been here for a minute. Just killing tracks until we took notice. He's really developed his flow, and this is a hell of a track to make an entrance into the popular arena. Well deserved.
Now back to the track. I mean, starting with the collab, Lana Del Ray has been hot in pursuit of becoming the more widely popular female vocal in EDM than my personal love, Ellie Goulding. With this track, she just won that race in my book. so lean back, turn your bass up, and just listen to this kid's rhythm. Oh. my.

Nancy Sinatra - Bang Bang (White Noise Remix)

And here we go for the weekend.  Before the subtle debauchery begins, I want to leave you guys with a little gem to get you ready.  Sync this to your mobile device and play in your car.  The beat will get you ready for anything.  From Mr. White Noise (which one? I'm not sure...there's apparently 30234098723 of them (exaggeration...). But whether it's our local hero or some German guy, the remix is still dirty.  Enjoy.

Griz - Better than I've Ever Been

Sampling a little Kanye West, the Michigan DJ/Producer GRIZ lays down some heavy, filthy basslines in this one.  He truly shows us what an artist can do with a computer.  It's the deerhunter of bass-heavy tracks (if you get that reference).  Check out his other tracks on his soundcloud.

Get ready.  It's sooo money.

INTERVIEW - Bassnectar with Complex

Here's a sweet interview with Lorin Ashton - Bassnectar.  As capitalism creeps into the EDM sector, I hope artists such as these remain honest and sincere to the genre.

Favorite quote: "Fuck it! I love strawberries!"

Second place: (in reference to collaborating with Lupe Fiasco) "I wanted our brains to play together." <-- so glad they did.

Nero - Must be a Feeling (Delta Heavy Remix)

So, my friend over at WBJ gave me some major love. Been copping his site for a hot minute, so here's a track from my private stocks that I'm releasing out to the public for my boy Nick.

Delta Heavy. Learn that name. From across the pond, but just funky and dirty. Click play and tell me different. #PLUR ;P

Oh! and if you haven't already heard, there's this MAJOR music festival for the southeast with a lineup that will finally make you feel like spending more money on entertainment than gas. ATL, baby! COUNTERPOINT. Check out the site below. Definitely affordable for a three-day bender. look at the prices.

Electrode and Astrio - Octanis (Kromly remix)

Here's a very grimey track from up and coming producer, KROMLY. He's out of Austin, TX and let me just say, I expect great things from this kid. He's not polished, but to deliver this level of filth in bass drops after just a couple years, he's got lots of potential. Cop this track. It should be in your freakstep/filthy grime playlist. ;P

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Madeon - FINALE

Finally! This has been the track I have gotten most excited about. Not for posting, but for my own playlists. Yes.

MADEON is this dirty producer out of France. At 19, this kid is so talented. I mean, just listen to this, his first breakthrough hit Icarus, or his remix of Martin Solveig's The Night Out. It destroyed A-Trak's. Yes, they're too vary different styles, but the point of a remix is not a dj's personal spin but his personal attempt at making something better than the original. Sorry, I digress. Click play, DL, and you will not be disappointed.

Something non-electronic, but still a definite repeater (EDIT: halfway thru the post, I added electronic. Enjoy. :D)

I don't know who this is, but the composition is the perfect blend of happiness. Smile-inducer. :D And around minute 2:30 when it starts to get a little smoother, in pops in BIG SEAN. Perfect balance. Imagine the summer wind in your face with your windows rolled down. The bass hitting you acoustically in the eardrums, but loud enough to feel it in your chest. Music's better with the windows down. I proclaim this the track of summer 2012. Listen to it then show me something better. Fine, maybe this one.

Skrillex and Kaba (Ft. Wale) - Let's Get Down

Can't wait for the mastered to drop for this, but even at this quality, it's ear goodies. Skrillex? respect.

Kill Paris - I Wanna Be Your Lover

Kill Paris has been killing it. Most of his recent releases have been solid. With versatility. Yes.

Armin van Buuren - We are Here to Make Some Noise (Save the Rave Remix)

So here you go.  Something truly building to a drop.   I mean, the drop is just sick.  I mean, this is something everyone should just hear.  Now.  SPEAKERS. Up^^^^^^^^^^^^^!

YLUV - Never Touch the Ground (Gazzo Remix)

Here's an uplifting progressive house track for those of you that like happy music.  Gazzo is an incredible dj/producer that's been stirring up all kinds of trouble on the internet, and recently, he played some major festivals.  He's not a large name in the EDM scene, but with one listen to this track, you'll see he's got the talent to warrant a venture onto his soundcloud and see what he's been cooking up.  Shan't disappoint.

Fork'n'Knife - Lucky Star (Original)

I'm a sucker for female vocals on a bass-heavy track, especially when I have no idea what she looks like.  There's something mysterious and hauntingly beautiful about that.  This one's from up-n-comer, Fork'n'Knife, out of MOSCOW, RUSSIA.  Say what you will about the Eastern Block, but this is straight fire.  Turn your speakers up. (Failing that, headphones now!) ;)

Kanye West et. al - MERCY (FIGURE Remix)

Here's a banger for your weekends.  FIGURE remixes the club banger Mercy by Kanye West et. al.  Just the perfect mix of grime with hip-hop.  I usually need to change my pants when Figure drops something of this quality.  Thankfully, this time I wasn't wearing pants so...yup.  Turn up your speakers and rage.

Wynter Gordon - Dirty Talk (RUNVS Remix)

The vocals on this one is just delicious.

Slangor - Modulation Sock

This one is a little bit filthier.  I hope you have subs for it.

props to Memphis.

Adventure Club ft. Krewella - Rise and Fall (At Dawn We Rage Remix)

Download here (for the price of a like)

AT DAWN WE RAGE turned an instant classic into a banger.  Need I say more?

FINE.  ;P  They upped the tempo and turned an already beautifully complicit track into something grimier and filthier.  It's a great remix.  I mean, three seconds in and you'll start fist pumping and/or nodding your head.  I wouldn't say it's the summer's best, but it's a contender.  (still too early in rage season to tell)

For more info on the artist, check out their website.
